This book is an intricate fantasy jampacked with adventure, suspense, and a rich world full of mythology and lore. You become entangled in the struggles of Amina as she does her best to carve out a life for her and her daughter, despite her past coming back to threaten everything she’s accomplished. This book is genuinely one of my favorite books of all time and I cannot recommend it enough!

The Hunger Games Series by Suzanne Collins

A powerful series that explores the idea of a future world controlled by one ruling government full of corruption and an oppressive tyranny. I quickly fell in love with our cast of characters from District 12, potentially the poorest area of the country. You won't be able to stop yourself from cheering for their inevitable rebellion, at times not being able to help but hold your breath!

Noemi is such a strong female character, and her strength permeates through the entire novel as she struggles to understand what’s going on and how to protect herself. I could barely put this one down and was frantically turning pages to hear what came next in this haunted house-esque thriller.

I loved this book long before the hype of the beloved musical and movie and you'll discover the novel is rather different from what is portrayed on the big screen. Not an easy read, but definitely one that is worth taking the time to explore.

The Last Time I Lied By Riley Sager

The Starving Saints By Caitlin Starling

The Starving Saints By Caitlin Starling

Sager is my absolute favorite author and this book was one of the first I ever read by him. I love a book set at a summer camp and this one had so many twists and turns it made my head spin! I pride myself on being able to guess where a book is headed and most twists usually don’t surprise me. This one caught me completely off guard and I recommend it to everyone looking for a good thriller.

Let this be a warning that this one is NOT for the faint of heart. If You Give A Pig A Pancake By Laura Numeroff

Who knew giving a pig a pancake could lead to such wonderfully wacky adventures? I loved this book as a kid. It was so fun seeing what antics the pig would get into because one thing reminded her of another thing over and over.

If You Give A Pig A Pancake By Laura Numeroff

I made my Nani read this book to me so many times she could recite it by memory. She would do silly voices for the characters and I remember wanting to eat the food among the illustrations.

This list wouldn’t be complete without this classic. My Maga and I must have read this a thousand times together and the illustrations are so beautiful. I have such nostalgia with this book and can’t help picturing me crawling into Maga's lap with the book in my hands. I’ll love you forever, Maga!
